One of the most anticipated shows has finally, for the first time, arrived to Quito! Corteo by Cirque du Soleil ends a 10-year world tour on December 13th at the Bicentenario Park. “ Corteo” has been shown in 57 cities with 3500 functions with an average of eight million viewers.
This show requires 130 people working together, 60 of them perform from 20 different countries around the world. It combines the passion of the actors with the elegance and strength of the acrobats, in order to immerse the audience in a world of fun, comedy and fantasy. Through the large and small, the ridiculous and the tragic, and through the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the facets of strength and frailty of Mauro come to life, the starring clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness.
“Corteo” is a funeral ritual in which the protagonist imagines a joyful procession, with the presence of angels, fairies, mischief and child’s play; the game of love and its innocence. The protagonist reminisces about his life during several adventures. Death is presented as a permanent party, comedy and irony. Within the magic of the theater and the splendor of the art, local elements were transmitted about Quito’s everyday life; for example, they mentioned Liga de Quito soccer team and even the Cotopaxi volcano. From bouncing beds, acrobats, imaginary animals and candlesticks, to dancers covered in cloths, “Cirque du Soleil” shows, in Quito, its splendors in 34 shows with an average of 70000 viewers.
To be inhe audience of one of the most renowned artistic shows in the world is a unique experience, and something that should definitely be on everyone’s bucket list.
